Star

Task 8 - Schools that learn

Hi everybody! I am Pepe, the star of this week. This has been the last task, so it also has been the last week that we meet for doing a task :(
This week I am the star with my friend Teresa, and the task consists in prepare a poster in which we had to relate ideas from two texts in Spanish with ideas from the Complexity and relationship's texts.

We started working on Monday, and on Tuesday we met for doing the task, at first we didn't find any relation between the texts and we were very nervous because it was the final task and we wanted to do it the best we could.

Finally we found some relations and we did a poster with Popplet.
Also, Mari (the facilitator of this week) bought us some lollipops to motivate us so we were like:

But the things didn't go as we wanted, because we had a problem with the print and the poster was TOO small, but we were optimistics and we tried to do the best we could!

On Wednesday we (Teresa and I) had to present the poster through the class by Speed Learning (as the first day). We were nervous because we forgot many things and when the group in which Linda stayed was near us we were very very very nervous!

Linda said that she liked our way of presenting the relations between the texts, but we related more or less the same things, so we need to improve this aspect for knowing better the content about the texts. Also we apologized for the size of the poster (it was difficult to read, it was too small), but despite of these problems, I think that our task was good!

Now guys, is the end of the course, yeah I know you will miss our posts! But the time has gone, we will really miss this blog :(

It has been a pleasure to work in this blog, thanks to everybody!

HEY WAIT, WAIT! before you go, I wanna tell you something, are you ready? okay

Maybe is a stupid thing but I speak for myself and for my group and we have to thank this subject for teaching us a world that (in my case) we didin't know, thanks for teaching us how to use different tools that we didn't know about its existence, for making us learn to cooperate, for making us having fun, for nowing better our collegues... Definetly, thanks for giving us the opportunity to work as teachers, in this subject we also have learnt lots of things that will be very useful for our future and for our work as teachers.

Thank you so much for reading us every week, hope you liked our blog, have a nice Summer! Bye

Pepe.

Task 7 - Leadership styles

Hi everyone! I am Teresa and I am the star of this week. This week has been a bit caothic for me because I had to be the star, but I didn't attend the Monday class, so I had no idea of what was the task about, but my teammates explained the task to me and I think I caught well the idea.

This week I was a candidate for being the headteacher of a school and I had to prepare a speech where I said what would I change of the school if I were chosen. This week we didn't meet, but all the team helped me to prepare my speech. We also made some pennant and badges to support my candidature.

On Wednesday I felt really bad because I had to say my speech in front of the class and moreover I wasn't feeling good that morning, I had nausea and headache, but I think that finally it wasn't so hard as it seemed.

The main problem for me is that I am shy and I have a very low voice, and I get very nervous when I have to speak in a presentation in front of a lot of people all by myself. I still have to control my nerves because when I am nervous I tend to forget everything I wanted to say, but I think I am improving because now I am able to speak at least a bit louder.

Here you have a picture of me during the presentation:

Thanks for reading and see you next week!
Teresa

Task 6 - Part 2 - Connections and relationships

Hi guys! I'm Maria, the star of my group this week. This time, I have not had to expose anything like starts have been doing all weeks. The activity of this week has consisted on recording four TV programms, so everybody has been star!!

For doing that, on Monday we divided ourselves in three groups with six subgroups. Last week I was editor but this, I have been selected to be actress in "Diary of Leona". We have had to record two cases, one with a girl with ADHD and another case of bullying. Once we had divided the roles (editors and actors), we started to organize the filming that we would record on Wednesday.

So, on Wednesday we prepared the decorating and scenary and started to record. My role was the ADHD girl's grandmother, so I was in the public defending her with a friend (Pepe). We had to do several shots but finally, we managed to record all of them correctly.

I enjoyed a lot recording, Pepe and me immersed ourselves in the roles very well, and all people laughed a lot hahaha

Regards and see you next week!!

María

Task 6- Part 1- Complexity and relationships

Hello everyone!
I am Victoria and this week I am the star of the group!
This week I enjoyed a lot making my role. As you know, the teacher asked us for dividing us in actors and editors; and finally, I was an actress!!

As I was the star this week, I had to have an important role in our video. My partners Edu Espinosa and Paula Bernabe, who were some of the editors bosses, asked Jose, Felix and me for being the actors of the first new: 'complexity theory'.
Our story was about the Cultural Week in Camilo Hernández School. A journalist (Jose) went to the school to make a report about it. He asked the father of one of the children who study in Camilo Hernández School (Felix) for his opinion. Later, Jose asked the head-teacher (me) about the purpose of this Cultural Week, and I had to say: 'Through this Cultural Week, we encourage children to get some knowledge about 'Sierra de Gata'; and they are trying to do it by transmitting information to each other'.
About the setting, the bosses chose the Philosophy Faculty to record our video as it looked like a school; and about the clothes and the make-up, Maria Luisa said to me that I had to wear a light shirt and dark trousers, so I wore a white shirt with a black jacket and black trousers and I put on red my lipstick.

Finally, after some times trying todo it well, we got it! and I think you are going to enjoy a lot our video, specially when our computer expert classmates finish with it.

THANKS FOR READING!!

Task 6- Complexity and relationships

Heeey guys! We are Jesús and Sara, and this week we have been the stars of the group.

If you come from the facilitator's post, I'm going to explain why I (Sara) had two roles this week:

As you know, we have a roulette so we don't have to fight for the roles, one week, was my turn to be the star but the stars were the same as the previous week, so I skipped my turn to be the star by accident, so I promised my group that the following week that were needed 2 stars, I would be one of them.

So here we are, together in this experience. At first we were so weighed down just thinking about present in front of 60 people. So the teacher asked all the stars to be standing in a line, we were all looking each other and were like "oh my god, oh my god, oh my god"

But we had a lot of good luck this week, when the teacher explained the task that we had to do, was a great relief. So now we are the 'bosses' of the new task and we have to help our classmates to develop the task. We're so happy that finally everything turned out to be great.

Thanks for reading!!!!!

Task 5: What have we learnt?

Hi everyone! I'm Mari Carmen and this week I'm the star of the group again!
As it has been my second time as a start, I was not that nervous as the previous time.
This week, the task has been about making a video summarizing what we have learnt until now in this subject. I think it has helped us a lot because we have had to remember and review everything we did some weeks ago.
On Wednesday, when the teacher told us that we were going to do like an 'Eurovision contest' I was like:

I loved the idea of making a contest. I thought it could be funny. At first, I presented our video to the rest of the class and every star did the same with their videos and then, after seeing all of them, we marked the videos. For us, It was a bit hard to put the marks and even more for me because I had to tell the rest what we had decided, but apart from this, I think it has been a great experience because everyone were very motivated to do a good job and win an 'Aperitivo'.

In general, I think that this task has been very funny and we have had a good time presenting it in class.

See you next time!

Mari Carmen Pina

Task 4: The Dark Side of Textbooks

Hi everyone! I'm María and this week I'm the star of the group, my worst nightmare.
This week, from my point of view the task has been very interesting. Firstly, we had to look for information in many articles that teacher gave us to find some reasons for not using textbooks; and then, on Wednesday, present them to the other groups. For that, we could use a comic, an info-graphic or a Twitter timeline. We decided to do a Twitter timeline, but in a carboard, because we thought it could be more original, and... we think the teacher and other groups have been surprised with the idea and have liked it!

So, on Tuesday, we decided to meet to do the task. We had lunch at university and then, we went to a class and started to work hard. While some were in charge of the timeline, others looked for the reasons and tweeted them. In this way, we worked a lot in not much time.

On Wednesday, I was very nervous because it was the first time that I was star. The teacher told us that each member of the groups had to choose a number from 1 to 8, and each number had to form a group. In each group, the star had to say his/her reasons for not using textbooks, and then, the other members had to create a question about the topic, and say what he/she could improve of the task. The teacher said that if the question was interesting and creative, it could be an exam's question.

After that, stars showed their presentation to the whole class and the question created by the other members. In general, all presentations formats were original, and I enjoyed a lot with the task.

See you in the next task
Happy Easter holidays!!

Task 3 - Improved Food chain & How to be a good Star

Hi everybody! I am José Motos and this week I am the star (yeah, again). In this week we did two activities, I repeated the task of the last week (food chain) but with some improvements, and with the Stars from the other groups we did a 30-second video-tutorial about "how to be a Good Star"

For the food chain, we corrected some mistakes because our teacher and our lovely classmates told us we had some.

We deleted ALL the text, because in the previous presentation we put too much text.

Also I interacted with the audience, asking if they knew another example of Food Chain and if there were any vegan or vegetarian person (finally not, they are bad people... WHO AM I TRYING TO KID? I CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT MEAT, don't judge me please).

And  finally we put some sounds when I was performing the food chain dressing like a bear. In general I think it was okay and better than the previous one, what do you think?

WEDNESDAY , 10:30 am

*Linda comes into the class and she tells us that we have to put together according to our role (all stars together, all facilitators together, etc).*

*Me*

WHAT THE..??!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT I HAVE TO DO, TODAY IS A STRANGE DAY I DON'T UNDERSTAND ANYTHING

But Linda explained us that we had to make a 30- second video-tutorial of how to be a good star (and the same with each role).

So we started to work and we thought of 13 items that we could say.

We were 13 Stars, and someone suggested to make a video in the stairs in which each of us had to be on a step and the camera was passing and recording at the same time.

*I have to say that for this video, girls were in the bathroom painting their lips before starting the video (for being prettier :3)*

AND HERE YOU HAVE THE VIDEO ABOUT HOW TO BE A GOOD STAR, HOPE YOU LIKE IT!!

Task 3 - Free resources and visual presentations

Hi! I am José Motos and this week I am the star with Mari Carmen Pina. We have explained our class the Food Chain.
At first, on Monday, I suggested making a presentation about food chain because we could dress up and perform this topic, but my group said "NO" and I was like:

We decided to find another topic in Teresa's house. We didn't know what to do, so someone suggested "The History of Santa Claus", at first we all agreed and we started working on it, but we realized that it wasn't related to education so we decided to choose the topic I said before, food chain, and I was like:

We look for some information and we did a Power Point.
On Wednesday it was the presentation, at first we were a bit nervous, I forgot what to say, but later I started to remember things about the herbivorous, carnivorous etc and I explained it the best I could.
After that, we did a type of "animated example" of a food chain, mmm I was dressing up like a bear (or that is what is supposed to be).

While Mari Carmen was explaining the different levels of food chain, I was acting: First I put some plants on a table, later a stuffed rabbit ate the plants, and finally a bear (me) ate the rabbit.
I don't know exactly how the class reacted to this "performance" I hope that they enjoy it. We know that we made some mistakes for example we didn't interact with the public, we put many text in the slides and one important thing was that I (Mari Carmen) was eating chewing gum in the presentation. I didn't realize that I shouldn't do that but other classmates notice it and later they told me that It is not well seen to do it in a presentation, so thanks to their advice I wouldn't do it in the next tasks.

Next monday, we are going to repeat again the presentation because the teacher told the class that we could do it better and improve many things so we are preparing how we can do it (and we are going to do it better, cross fingers).

Here is the video of the presentation, hope you like it!

Thanks for reading!

Task 2 - Map Projections and Treasure Hunt

Hello everyone! We are Teresa Morales and Victoria Manzanares and we are the stars this week. We had explained to our classmates our work 'Treasure Hunt: carthographic projections AKA: "media are not neutral"' It is about different maps projections (Robinson, Mercator and Azimuthal). For this work, we have choosen two countries; England and Ecuator because in the map England seems bigger than Ecuator but if we check the area of each one we see that actually Ecuator is the biggest, We had put an example of something that distort the vision of students about something, for example, a star, We also put an example of a treasure hunt and we explained the relationship between media are not neutral and our work. We think that it has been a teaching experience, we were very nervous and we have to be used to present in front of other people so we think that we can do it better.

When it was our turn to expose our project, we were like:

This is because we are not used to talk in front of a group of people, and we know that we must improve this skills as we want to be Primary School Teachers, but it's hard at the start. Let's talk about what we saw in our exposition.

Firstly, we were VERY nervous, we mean, it's not easy to explain a evaluable project in front of the whole class, and we tend to compare our work with other's work. In the presentation, we sincerely were a bit mess, specially with the Prezi, as we were always going back and going on in the diapositives. Also, at some moments, we couldn't be so clear in our explanation although we prepared it well, sometimes nerves play a dirty trick to us.

What we have to do is to practise more and more, in order to not seize up. Anyway, being a star have been a good experience, and it's something unavoidable for our job, so we hope and we want to improve a lot.

Thanks for reading our reflection, we hope that you keep visiting our blog and helping us to do better day by day!

  1. Hello fluffly guardians! I'm the journalist of Loonatics; I think this week you have made a great presentation, also it was very funny to see our friend Pepe dress like a bear to explain the food chain. The only negative aspect that i have to say is that for the next presentation you should include less text but otherwise you have done a great job! Congratulations and we hope that you keep improving!

  2. Hi Fluffy guardians! It's Ester, this week's Sweet Chilli Pepper facilitator. I wanted to tell you that I really liked the presentation that you made on Monday since you made some nice changes with respect to the previous presentation, for instance, with the sound that you put while the stars where making a performance of your explanation. Maybe I would've liked to see more interaction with the audience since as future teachers we would have to interact a lot with our students, but that's all. In general I really enjoyed it so congratulations guys!

About your blog I think that it is really nice, as well as good organised, if I had to say one thing that I would change, it would be include every task in a different post in order to be able to comment every single part, but it is only an advice!!! See you on class friends.
